Vintage Bicycle Style

I've been loving and riding my Faraday electric bicycle a lot since I invested in it last year, and I will continue to sing its praises.  Such a fun ride! However, I pulled out my dear old Specialized Globe step-thru frame recently for a ride through the park. There's nothing quite like the crisp November air on a bike ride to make one feel truly alive and completely at peace with the world.

This dress is a really special secondhand - make that thirdhand - find.  I purchased it from Allison of www.allisoneconway.com during her big wardrobe purge prior to leaving the U.S. to travel the world.  And guess what, all you Gleeks? That's right, it's a dress Lea Michele wore on Glee. I'm a big hippie, so I don't even own a television (I haven't owned one in decades...give it a try!) but I also come from a big arts-oriented extended family, so I certainly appreciate the history in the dress.  Plus, it's adorable! My gosh, that smart blue bow on the front is just too perfect.

For this look, I paired the dress with a cloche hat (styling tutorial in the future!), and the effortless, classic combination of knee socks and loafers, and a white button-up blouse. And of course, fashion is second to safety in my book. I always bike in a helmet when I am on the street.

Go ride a bike, everyone! It is one of life's perennial simple pleasures.
