California Winters

We have hit that post-holiday point in the winter when spring sure starts to sound appealing.  In Northern California, the temperatures are still (relatively) cold, and the much-needed rain continues to pour down intermittently.

California winter dressing is all about layering.  Yesterday, after the Internet proved to me that not a single person in the universe has ever worn a turtleneck with a tie, I decided that wouldn't be true anymore after today.  So here it is! An unexpected winter layering technique.

I love it! I feel very French schoolgirl-meets-private eye in this look.  The bow detail on the back of the dress is just darling.  And as much as I'm trying to bring color into my wardrobe, I just cannot get tired of a smart gray frock.  Heaven!

Truth be told, I'm much more of a summer girl than a winter girl.  I just have always run cold! I need to feel that sunshine to be really loving being outside.  I grew up in Connecticut, and moving to California was partially about saying goodbye to shoveling snow as a matter of habit.  I've got my picnic basket and butterflies, how about a little springtime weather sometime soon?
