As an anti-trender, I warm up to new styles very slowly. However, I'm no stick in the mud! I'm all in favor of evolving in fashion (and in all ventures) but I go at it rather in the same way that I enter a swimming pool: by inching into the shallow end wayyyyy before going for total submersion.
I'm petite (5'3" to be precise) and I have always stayed away from tea-length skirts on principle, even though I've admired them on others, including petite others. Tea-length is such an elegant length! And please, let's keep using the expression tea-length. "Midi" sounds very geometric and cold somehow. But lo and behold, I was shopping recently and I nearly heard a skirt calling my name. "Rebecca! I'm right over here! And I'm the skirt of your dreams!"
It was love at first sight for me and this striped beauty. Gosh, it even has pockets! I cannonballed right into the tea-length skirt deep end of the fashion swimming pool and did an incredible synchronized swimming routine in a fancy costume right on the spot. Metaphorically, that is.
People, give me all the tea-length skirts! I am a woman converted. Medium length skirt for president! I'm feeling it. Now all that elegance is mine, mine, mine.
So, what are you going to do to step outside your fashion comfort zone today?
