All Suited Up

My relationship with the ocean is complicated.  My relationship with pools, lakes, rivers, not so much.  Those are pretty straightforward relationships, especially since I love love love LOVE to swim.  (Note to self: I should swim more.  I really love it.)

It's not the waves and the tides that make the ocean tricky for me; I love a good challenge, and those things are reasonably predictable if you pay attention.  However, I'm terrified, absolutely TERRIFIED of sharks.  Irrational fears are the worst.

On that note, can you believe swimwear season is upon us? I adore every single suit in my collection.  I try to add one new suit per year.  A few of my favorites are a polka-dot Roxy suit I treated myself to after finishing a triathlon in Honolulu, a Comme des Garcons special edition Speedo I bought in Tokyo, and a bondage-inspired (oh yes, spicy!) Agent Provocateur bikini I bought for a getaway to Punta Cana with my husband a couple of years ago.

I'm kinda sorta always in love with white garments but also nervous that my clumsy self will ruin them.  So historically, I have kept my distance from white swimsuits, but gosh, I have always admired them.

However, Spring 2017 marks the Year of the White Swimsuit for me. I got a great deal on this classic white Lucky Brand maillot (with a few updated embellishments on it) at Nordstrom Rack. I took it out on my inaugural plunge of the swim season into the Pacific Ocean earlier this week. Success! And bonus points for the fact that the water was not as cold as I had feared.

I'm interested to hear what swimsuits others love. Happy Sunday, everyone!
