I spent the summer living in a bunch of different places, all of them local, none of them a planned vacation, while I tried, unsuccessfully, to sell my house. It was a strange time; I have never leaned on the yogic “go with the flow” truth so heavily before. And it served me so well.
Real estate is full of jargon. I am much more of a straight talker. I think it’s one part upbringing and one part professional life, but I cannot stand to participate in a coded conversation. Just tell me how it is, and trust in my ability to deal with the facts, please. Personally, I think we’d all be better off if we spent less time decoding each other’s subtext and more time seeking joy.
Ultimately, we moved back into our completely empty, freshly landscaped and painted house, and it was the best gift we have ever received. All along the broken road that led us home were signs that what we have is enough. All we needed was a fresh start.
